ABC Wednesday, B for Boarding

In the past 30 years I have seen a lot of airports, where I spent my time waiting for the sign to board. I was always happy to see the words "Boarding Now" appearing on the screens of the departure boards.  I have to wait at least three hours when I travel by plane. The longest normal waiting time was 19 hours. Sometimes I book a hotel room, sometimes I spent this time in one of the business class lounges, where I can read or work on the computer, while I am having a cup of coffee or tea.

I also like to walk along the shops

and see the interesting parts of the airports.

This is Schiphol by night. My eldest grandson and I were waiting for the flight to Tasmania, with a stop on Bali.

Then finally we got permission to go to our gate and board on our plane.

This is one of the ways to board, but sometimes we have to board outside the building.

The seats in most of the planes look very comfortable.

Continuing your airport theme -- that's fun! We haven't traveled enough for me to really get bored (although 19 hours would surely do it. I hope that was one of the times you got a hotel!). I enjoy walking along and looking at the shops and people watching. And then there is always my laptop and Kindle. It is very easy nowadays to fill idle hours.

You are a seasoned traveler, Wil! Thanks for taking us along on the trip. The first thing I do after Boarding a place is Beg for a Beer, ha ha ha.

Oh I love to fly and I usually don't mind the waiting because I'm so excited.

Your planes look much more comfortable than the last one I flew on, - I felt like a sardine in a long narrow can.....Have as great time on your journeys, Wil.

A wait for 19 hours would drive me crazy. The most I've done is 4 - 5 hours and with my twins in tow it's been bad enough. I don;t think I'd mind the wait if I were on my own and had a good book along. I'd enjoy the peace.

I loathe airports and flying although I have flown as far as the US, We struck lucky on a trip to Anna Maria Island in the Gulf of Mexico, as eldest daughter and husband gave us some air miles so that we all could fly Virgin Upper Class...
what an experience....
After several glasses of champagne, a delicious fillet steak, I was tucked up in my comfy bed and slept soundly for most of the flight!
It was a bit of a 'come down' the next time we flew by Easy Jet to Nice ! As far as budget airlines go we find them pretty good, particularly as I am a wheelchair user, they always look after us well, but I still have that underlying fear of flying... silly I know !
Have a wonderful trip Wil and I look forward to reading to stories when you return .

Best wishes,
Di.

My latest plane hop was a 45 minute flight...but my phone died and I couldn't phone my daughter who was waiting in the pick-up parking....being in a strange airport and not knowing where to even go for pick-ups was challenging for me....finally found a plug-in on an empty luggage carousel to contact my daughter. But I look forward to the day I go on a luxury flight♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/bike/
