ABC Wednesday, B for Babies

 Babies are from another world.

                                                   Our first baby.

It's been a long time ago since I had my first baby, that was almost 50 years ago. Now my children are having theirs. They grow so fast...I often think of the time, that I was worrying about them, especially in the weekends, when they came home late after a night out. Sometimes they woke us up,sometimes they didn't. But I was always awake and could only sleep, when they came safely home at last.

ABC Wednesday, B for "No Boots on the Ground!"

No boots on the ground... When I heard that for the first time, I was puzzled. What does it mean? Apparently there were many others who were at a loss, among them a couple of cartoonists, whose drawings you can see here.

BOOTS ON THE GROUND.......

ABC Wednesday, B for Boarding

In the past 30 years I have seen a lot of airports, where I spent my time waiting for the sign to board. I was always happy to see the words "Boarding Now" appearing on the screens of the departure boards.  I have to wait at least three hours when I travel by plane. The longest normal waiting time was 19 hours. Sometimes I book a hotel room, sometimes I spent this time in one of the business class lounges, where I can read or work on the computer, while I am having a cup of coffee or tea.

I also like to walk along the shops

and see the interesting parts of the airports.

This is Schiphol by night. My eldest grandson and I were waiting for the flight to Tasmania, with a stop on Bali.

Then finally we got permission to go to our gate and board on our plane.

This is one of the ways to board, but sometimes we have to board outside the building.

The seats in most of the planes look very comfortable.

Our World Tuesday, ABC Wednesday, B for Bathmen

The church of Bathmen dates from the early 14th century

Bathmen is a town in the eastern Netherlands. The municipality was merged with her larger neighbour of Deventer on 1. January 2005 as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country.

The vicarage, where my sister and her family,

 lived  for many years

I often stay in Bathmen to visit my sister.
Bathmen has got a long history . Old archaeologic finds date from 6000 B.C.. Because of its high situation surrounded by swampy area, it is thought that it has been inhabitated permanently from at least 1300 B.C..

The province of Overijssel

Bathmen is a village in the north-east of the Netherlands, and although it is not far from where I live, the surroundings are quite different with woodland and more farms than we have.

The pub, restaurant, café

people in weekends.

Nice to walk there in summer
