ABC Wednesday, X for Saint Andrew, Decorative symbols in British Cathedrals.
The letter X is a very difficult letter and often used in churches and Cathedrals. The X is the symbol dedicated to the apostel Andrew, because he was crucified on an X- shaped cross.
With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC.For more interesting ABC
posts click on the logo in the sidebar. This week we are looking for
words beginning with X.
Even in the floor of the Cathedral you can find the shape of an X.
And in the ceiling you can find plenty of X's too.
In this cathedral the mayor has a special seat with a coat of arms bearing two crossed keys.
The flag of Scotland has the Saint Andrew cross.

The disciples certainly suffered for their love of Christ. What a remembrance for Christmas.
