I live in Krimpen aan de Lek in the province of South-Holland, one of the twelve provinces which the Netherlands is divided into. We live in a polder- land
A polder (Dutch pronunciation: [pɔldər]) is a low-lying tract of land enclosed by dikes that forms an artificial hydrological entity, meaning it has no connection with outside water other than through manually operated devices.
You can expect to see a lot of water, grass-land with cattle, windmills to keep the polder dry, and dikes. This part of the country is also very flat!
Hello, lovely scenes from your village. It looks like a beautiful peaceful place to live. I like the cute houses, the cows and ducks. The church and the whale weathervane are pretty. Thanks for sharing! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
A perfect place for me to go walking since I'm not good on hills with my bad back. It's a gorgeous place, Wil, and interesting how the infrastructure works.
Oh, my, what a charming place you live in. The only places that I've taken a ferry are two different islands in Lake Michigan. Thanks for sharing for it's virtual traveling for me.
Thank you all! Especially Lady Fi and Happywonderer! Whose blogs are very nice but I cannot write a comment on it any more, for I need an account for WordPress and I lost my password. In the future I shall answer you on my own blog. Have a great week all of you!
What wonderful photos, dear Wil. I almost feel that I was there with you. I will always remember visiting with you near the windmills several years ago. I am so happy to be blogging and connecting with blog-friends again after such a long time away from my computer. I'm not fully recovered and could be very upset with the fact that much of my memory is still gone, but I have been assured that it will return, and I know that it is returning, very slowly. But I, of course, want it to come back immediately! Hugs from here, Kay
Dear Wil, i loved the pictoral and most descriptive journey around your homeland, although it looks more modern than I imagined: Quite lovely though! Thanks for sharing this with us. Best regards, Di. ABCW team.
I remember the romantic windy way to Krimpen aan de Lek - that was our first time there. For a small town it has quite a number of elementary schools! Where do the children go after (used to b 6th grade, but dud this change?) -do they go to Rotterdam? Hope all is well with you? Have a great rest of the week:)
Thanks for the mail. The school children go to a secondary school(mavo, huishoudschool ) in Lekkerkerk, Krimpen aan de IJssel or Capelle aan de IJssel. The more difficult secondary schools like Atheneum ( secondary modern school), which takes 6 years , are in Capelle aan de IJssel or in Rotterdam en Gouda. A lot have changed since I attended HBS and Trainingcollege for Teachers. Have a great week, kind regards to your husband.
