121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;

The Book of Psalms, Tehillim in Hebrew (תְּהִלִּים or תהילים meaning "Praises"), commonly referred to simply as Psalms or "the Psalms", is the first book of the Ketuvim ("Writings"), the third section of the Hebrew Bible. The title is derived from the Greek translation, ψαλμοί psalmoi, meaning "instrumental music" and, by extension, "the words accompanying the music." The book is an anthology of individual psalms, with 150 in the Jewish and Western Christian tradition and more in the Eastern Christian churches. Many of the psalms are linked to the name of King David, although his authorship is not accepted by modern Bible scholars.
Why have I chosen Psalms for P this week.?
Well, as you all know my mum and her three children were prisoners in a Japanese concentrationcamp. It was a time of despair, fear and sadness. But my mum looked always up to the high mountains, which we could see rising up in the distance. This comforted her and she trusted that one day we would be able to live again in freedom. She was a brave woman and tried to keep us alive, which was a difficult thing.
Later when I read the bible myself my favourite psalm became "The Lord is my shepherd..."Psalm 23.

Wonderful tribute to your mother, Wil!
It has been quite a while since I have blogged. I started back last month, finally. This tribute to your mum is beautiful. So sad her life’s story, but she was a strong woman to always look ahead and take care of you all. This is a beautiful picture.
This psalm is one of my favourites as well, Wil, - I can say it along with you. Although any troubles I have had have been nothing compared to yours, or your mothers, still the hills brought comfort to us.

I love many of the Psalms, though some are quite dark...
I love that psalm Wil, I know it by heart.
Such a moving story of your dear Mama and your siblings'
time in a POW camp, it must have been a harrowing time
for you all.
Faith can carry you through times of Peril, if God is
hearing our pleas.
She must have been an incredibly brave and strong lady.

Psalms is a treasure trove. The first lines of this one can occasionally seen inscribed on sundials and seats with views here (lots of hills) and always move me.
