Welcome to Our World Tuesday! This meme continues in memory of the work of Klaus Peter, whose "that's My World" brought people together from around the world every Monday to share the wonders therein--big and small. Please click on our  logo for "Our World Tuesday" in the sidebar.  Princess Beatrix( abdicated queen), Alexia, King Willem Alexander

"A uniform is a type of clothing worn by members of an organization while participating in that organization's activity. Modern uniforms are most often worn by armed forces and paramilitary organizations such as police, emergency services, security guards, in some workplaces and schools and by inmates in prisons. In some countries, some other officials also wear uniforms in their duties; such is the case of the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service or the French prefects. For some public groups, such as police, it is illegal for non members to wear the uniform. Other uniforms are trade dresses (such as the brown uniforms of UPS)."( Wikipedia)

On the day that our king was crowned we could see a great variety of uniforms. Some were worn by the royalty of other countries, but police and military men had to wear their uniforms.

However I didn't see any schoolchildren in their schooluniforms. I don't think that there is one school in the Netherlands where children have to wear schooluniforms, at least I have not seen them over here.

Thank you so much for this post Wil and showing blogland that there are still other royal families in Europe than that of the UK - am not against the latter, but it put things in perspective!

Uniforms, what a great choice for the letter. I agree with a reader above, we in the UK do often forget there are other Royal families besides our own.

There is something special about uniforms. I went through private schools, but never was required to wear them. However, my 2 girls attended a parochial school through elementary and middle school, and were always required to wear them. It made it quite easy for them to dress in the morning, and they always looked so nice. Blessings!

my uncle says my girls were crazy, so was I. I like to say we are special. My daughter (No2) has just quit her lawyer job to do her VSA on the Solomons Island. Volunteering like the peace corp. This, I am wondering if it is crazy.

Hello Wil,

Thank you for visiting my blog, and leaving your comments. Nice to visit here.

I have mixed feelings about royalty. On the one hand they're ordinary folks like you and me once you strip away the fancy dresses and uniforms and pomp. On the other hand, I suppose they can be a symbol of stability and leadership that people can look to - especially since most politicians have a reputation (deserved) just beneath that of a used car salesman.

Toch, mooie fotos.

Fijne vrijdag gewenst.

Enjoy all of the lovely looking dresses more so than the uniforms. I also never knew that there were so many different Kings and Queens of so many different countries either.
