Our World Tuesday,ABC Wednesday, Y for Year, and New Year's Eve

An oliebol  is a traditional Dutch and Belgian food. They are called oliebollen (literally: oil spheres) in the Netherlands. In English they are more commonly known as Dutch Doughnuts or Dutchies.(Wikipedia)

This is what we have on New Year's Eve! Many Dutch women have already started to bake "oliebollen"! I buy them, because we don't need so many. My sister, who lost her husband recently, will stay with me.

A Happy New Year! Our New Year starts with fireworks. Lots of noise, sometimes very colourful, but always risky for careless boys, who try to invent new fireworks.

Anyway we'll stay indoors and watch the spectacle from behind my windows.

This is my contribution for the letter Y. Thanks to Denise Nesbitt who created this meme about 7 years ago !

Welcome to Our World Tuesday! This meme continues in memory of the work of Klaus Peter, whose "that's My World" brought people together from around the world every Monday to share the wonders therein--big and small. Please click on our  logo for "Our World Tuesday" in the sidebar. Enjoy a lovely time, and many happy returns of the day.

I have never heard of "oliebols" maybe they are known in the Flemish part of Belgium. People here in the French speaking part don't do them, or at least I have never seen one ! Usually they do a long lasting New Year's dinner with foie gras (I hate) and other sophisticated things. We did it in the past, now everybody brings a plate and wine and we make a buffet, that's far easier !

They look delicious! We always spend New Year's Eve quietly at home. If there are fireworks, Scruffy will hide in the cupboard where his kittilitter box is, up on a shelf at the back of the cupboard.
