Our World Tuesday, ABC Wednesday, O for Overijssel

Bathmen
Welcome to Our World Tuesday! This meme continues in memory of the work of Klaus Peter, whose "that's My World" brought people together from around the world every Monday to share the wonders therein--big and small. Please click on our new logo for "Our World Tuesday" in the sidebar.

With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC, and to Roger. For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar . This week we are looking for words beginning with O.

The Netherlands has twelve provences. Two of them are called Holland( North- and South-Holland). The ten other provences will be offended if you call them Holland!;). One of them is called Overijssel. The river IJssel is an important river flowing through this provence. Overijssel is one of the most beautiful provences of my country.

The first people who lived here were hunters and collectors of fruit and vegetables. They also went fishing. About around 2500 BC people started to settle permanently in this area.Acricultural farming became more and more important. The farmers chose to live along the rivers.
Many of the photos I show are from Wikipedia.
The last photo is the vicarage where my sister and brother-in-law, who was the minister of the Reformed Church in Bathmen, lived for many years.
Bathmen is a town in the eastern Netherlands, in Overijssel. The municipality was merged with her larger neighbour of Deventer on 1. January 2005.

Toutes ces petites villes sont très jolies et respirent le calme.

Et la place de Zwolle est très plaisante, animée sans être surpeuplée

I love European towns. A certain charm most US places lack. Maybe it's that tend to be OLDER.

My brother lived in Zwolle when he did his year of residency. That's the only place I've been in Overijsel. Thank you for showing your sister and brother in law's church:)

Beautiful photos. It always seems to me that Holland has her own distinctive style of architecture as well as being very clean and smart looking.
