Sky Watch, Weekend Reflections

On my way to Australia I stayed in this hotel for a couple of hours. There was a great deal of reflection!

On my way back to the Netherlands  I was stranded in Hong Kong Airport due to a typhoon.

We had to wait 28 hours before we could take off. We supported each other and became almost friends.

We tried to sleep on the floor or on the seats, but both options were uncomfortable.

Sky Watch is hosted each week by the Sky Watch team of Sandy, and Sylvia. And this week as every week, we remember Klaus and know that he joins us in spirit! .
It's always a pleasure to participate, and see all the other skies around the world. If you want to see other skies please click on the logo in the side bar.

Weekend Reflections was started on 27 September 2009, by  James. You can join this meme at some time during the weekend. Just post your photo and go to  James to tell him that you are on, or click on the logo in the sidebar. This meme is created for any type of reflection.

It is such a long journey even under normal conditions. Gee Wil, I wish the airport or the airline could have eased your conditions during the long wait.
But at least you had plenty of time to get good pictures.

28 H d'attente! Au moins vous avez eu le temps de faire des photos intéressantes, avec vos nouvelles connaissances

I am sorry to hear about the long layover, Wil!! I've had a few of those and they are frustrating indeed!! I am glad that you are back home safely! In spite of the frustration, you did get some great photos and that's the good thing! Hope you have a lovely weekend!!

Isn't it funny Wil how adversity can make us almost friends with perfect strangers?

28 hours is a long time. You put it to good use by taking pictures.
Have a great weekend!

Oh that's a long layover! But when its for safety reasons, you can't argue! It's interesting how that kind of situation fosters a kind of friendship. I'm glad you made it home safely.

Your pictures are beautiful.

What a shame, you were not able to stay longer and that your experiences were not great. Hong Kong is such an interesting place that deserves exploration.

I can't believe the airline didn't put you up in the hotel. You must have been so tired when you arrived home.

Stranded 28 hours with a typhoon! Not fun. I was stranded once in Belgrade for 30 hours but they gave us a room in town and restaurant tickets so I was able to visit the city. Another time I was stranded for 40 hours in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (at the time it was still the USSR.) Again though we were given rooms in town so it was not so bad. Once I was stranded in Luxembourg and there were no rooms available, they placed us in a convent!

So sorry you were stranded! You got some interesting photos...but what an ordeal! Great how people lean on each other during such times, though.
