ABC Wednesday, B for Benjamin

There are two Benjamins  among my relatives. One of them is my one but youngest grandchild in Australia.
The meaning of Benjamin is Son of my Righthand or Son of my Happiness.

Benjamin was the youngest son of Jacob and Rachel. His mother died in childbirth. He was her second child and brother of Joseph. When Jacob was dying, he blessed all his sons, and said this about Benjamin: “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf;
   in the morning he devours the prey,
   in the evening he divides the plunder.”

Marc Chagall has succeeded in picturing these words in the window dedicated to Benjamin.

With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC.For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar . This week we are looking for words beginning with B.

I always loved the story about how Joseph, his only full brother, framed Benjamin to test his brothers' character.

I had forgotten the meaning of the name. Interesting how the name fits the person or is it that the person takes on the characteristics of the name?

That is so very interesting about, Benjamin..The window is just excellent. Nothing quite as lovely as the sun coming through stained glass.

That was an interesting comment by Jacob about his son. What exactly did he mean?

Calling by from ABC Wednesday, at first I thought it was going to be about the bends in the road, interesting post.

Beautiful window, Wil, and thank you for the reminder about Benjamin and Joseph.

Beautiful window by Chagall such an iridescent colour, must look stunning with the light coming through. I always find it interesting that the Danes do not pronounce the j in Benjamin.

That is an awesome window. Thank you for the story of Benjamin. I don't think I've heard that one.

A lovely reminder of who Benjamin was in the Bible, and the meaning of his name. The stained glass is gorgeous!

I've always wondered about those words Jacob said about his sons...no doubt the rabbis have explained them all in great detail but somehow I've never come across anything about that in my reading. Love the Chagall...you have quite a few selections left for your ABC Wednesday if you choose to show all the series!
