ABC Wednesday, V for Via Dolorosa
We were walking through the old town again to follow the Via Dolorosa, which is unlikely to be the precise path that Jesus walked. The original way is probably hidden under 2000 years of ruins of buildings. However large slabs of stone from the times of the Roman occupation were found along the way. The route begins in the Arab Quarter. There are fourteen stations, the last five are situated in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Each station shows one of the events that happened to Jesus when he was carrying his cross to the place of execution, which was Golgotha.
With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC. For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar . This week we are looking for words beginning with V.

Even if it wasn't exactly the original. "Way of the Cross" I'm sure It must have been a wonderful experience to have walked there ..beautiful stones everywhere... walls, alleyways pavements ... They give such a warm ambiance to the old city.
Your slide show gave me goosebumps. Can't imagine actually being there. It may not have been the actual route but then again it may have. How fortunate you got to experience that and thank you for taking us along.
A great VISION, whether totally accurate or not.
I have to agree with Patti, your slide show gave me goosebumps, too. So much incredible history! I'm in awe! Thanks, as always, for sharing such a wonderful experience, Wil! Hope your week is going well!

I loved walking that road too and seeing the ancient street slabs.
Such incredible history, thank you Wil.
What a fascinating place to explore. Carver ABC-Wed. Team
It must have felt eerie walking along that old road and stopping at the stations. I'd like to do it myself, though. Great post, Wil, and have a great week,

One of my dream is to do Via Dolorosa. What a way to remember Christ passion. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for this wonderful video of the Via Dolorosa. I realize that it probably is not the streets that Jesus walked on, but it must have been an amazing experience to walk along it anyway.
I can't believe the history that is on that journey.
So many contrasts on this historic street, - the splendours of the church and the colours of the street. I love the warm shades of the walls.
Thank you, Wil, - wonderful to watch this video.
Enjoyed the Visit♫
Kind of mind-bending!!
Love the video Wil.

Beautiful, Wil, and although, as you said, unlikely to be the exact route of the cross, it would be fascinating and wonderful to be there.
Via Dolorosa is a lovely choice for the letter V.

I found it fascinating that there were so many doorways and archways in your slideshow. Symbolic, I think, of looking through to the other side of history. Beautiful post!
I love your slide show!! Reader Will! This is inspiring...I'd really like to visit there sometime! Thank you for this post!
Hi Wil. It is nice remembering, through your good pictures.
Yesterday evening, just before closing time, I was in the Holy Sepulchre. It was totally different, all quiet, almost empty, no line for the tomb.
Thanks so much for posting. I would love to visit someday but your video took me there for now.
A great take on the V prompt.
Here's mine La Vie En Rose
I am renting this old house, the windows are quite small. This one by where I am sitting is all white, has different kind of glass. The other one in my bedroom, gives me hearts in rainbow when I wake up.
