Bench of the Week, Weekend Reflections, Australia Queensland,

These photos show part of the Esplanada(see previous post) in Cairns. You can sit there, walk and have a meal or admire the seabirds. For children ( and also adults!!) there is a pool where they can paddle on warm days.

Click to see more details. The two bottom photos show the very shallow pool.

These photos were taken in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia, where my daughter, her son, his father and I spent some days in 2008. We were on our way to my other daughter in Cooktown, 360 kms more northwards.

RuneE of Visual Norway

PERBS has a whole site dedicated to benches called "For the Love of Benches", which is going on for two years and every day she posts a new bench. Her friend Malyss. has shown more than 600 benches on a site called "benchesonmyway".

Weekend Reflections was started on 27 September 2009, by James. You can join this meme at some time during the weekend. Just post your photo and go to James to tell him that you are on, or click on the logo in the sidebar. This meme is created for any type of reflection.

Thanks for the nice bench tour, Wil.
That is my kind of Australian sea pool--too shallow for sharks. :)

I really like the shallow water photo...and all of the bench photos you have shown. I haven't visited the other blogs that post these, but will when I have time. Love your header photo.

In a way it is great to see that the sun is not always shining in Australia :-) - on the other hand I would very much have like to both sit on the benches and have dip in that pool.

PS I now have a reflection up, too.

I thoroughly enjoyed these benches in Cairns as well as the photos in the previous post. This is certainly a beautiful part of the world!

The place seems sooooo inviting! and perfect to rest, spend holidays, take time...I particularly love the last of your pictures, the sky is grey but the weather seems hot anyway...
Have a good week-end!

I don't know why your children live in Australia. Did they marry Aussies?

Anyway, I imagine that's a good reason to travel there. My husband keeps saying he wants to visit Australia and New Zealand, but I would rather see Hong Kong first.

S'il n'est pas profond, l'étang semble immense, sur votre dernière photo .

I saw the benches for the tables and they are nice BUT I thought maybe that was a hippo bench and enlarged it and found it to be just a rock, but they are sitting on it so maybe I can call it a bench anyway????

Je n'avais pas fait attention à la bannière: le banc est si original !

I really like the reflection! What I wouldn't give to sit on one of those.

It's freezing here and those benches are looking at me and saying, come to me ........ come to me ....... I wish I could!

Beautiful photos here, Reader Will. Such a wonderfully warm climate in Cairns. It must make those in snow covered Europe tremble with jealousy, at least for now.

Ah, that looks like grand wading. Makes me want to get my feet wet.

Lovely shots, Wil. I especially like the last one. The sky is so moody and I love water reflections. Kathy

Beautiful. Lovely variety in benches.

Those two little ones are enjoying the large rock sitting in the shallow water. Probably a nice way to cool off.

Hope you're having a restful, peaceful week-end.

That piece of boulder is a natural bench. My water engineer would be interested in it. I mean why is it standing there alone.

J’aime la deuxième photo qui montre un arbre très imposant. Aussi j’ai vue des bicyclettes, cela doit être un bon endroit pour ce promener à bicyclette.

Great photos! Say, I really love your banner. Is that a sculpture or a bench of sorts? Thanks!
