The Past (by Oodgeroo Noonuccal, Australian poet)
"let no one say the past is dead.
The past is all about us and within.
Haunted by tribal memories, I know
This little now,this accidental present
Is not all of me, whose long making
Is so much of the past.....

Great photos of the past.
Terrific idea.
I like the words of the past also,

What a nice way to show your past!
I enjoyed your quote and your slide show. What an interesting life and lovely family. My grandfather came to Canada from Amsterdam as an adult in the 1920s. The war did not affect the Canadian branch of the family as it did those who remained in Holland. I could not imagine life in a war camp.
so beautiful photos!!
What a precious way to chronicle your family and show us your gems. Thanks. I truly enjoyed this post.
Heel leuke nostalgische foto's. Bedankt om deze te delen met ons, heel origineel

Wil, this was the most beautiful few minutes I've spent in a long time--seeing all of the photos of your life. Precious children and grandchildren and in spite of all you've been through, it was heartwarming to see you and your sister's photo. Thank you sincerely for sharing.
So nice to visit your past.
Again you have shared a very personal world. Very moving words and images.
The photoessay of your life is very poignant. So very much between the lines! Thank you.

Oh, Wil, how wonderful! I sat here and enjoyed your slideshow so much, anxious to read each caption, and looking at the smiling faces of your amazing family! After all you have been through, you deserve each every joyful moment! Thank you so much for sharing this!

Your slide show was full of lovely people. All of your children and grandchildren are precious. Just curious if the stone was a marker for your husband. I liked the shape of the stone.
Very creative idea! Great way to showcase your past, love it!
Thank you for sharing such a warm and personal look at your world. I love your poetry snippet as well & will have to look for more aboriginal poetry.

Oh Wil, this is so very touching!
You have done a wonderful job, both is creating this life story and in your long and full life itself.
And both are quite an inspiration.
Wow, your whole life -so touching, I even started tearing up, thanks you for sharing!!! I can only be so grateful to have been born after the war was over.
It's probably "somewhere" in your blog, but may I ask why you immigrated (?) to Autralia? Originally I/we went to the US for me to study here. We are still here in the US, because 2 of our 3kids have married here and then came the grand-children...

Visiting from Weaver's place, this is so *very beautiful, the photos and the poem.
