Our World Tuesday, ABC Wednesday, M for Money

The heads of the coins are different in every country. Spain, Belgium and  the Netherlands  have the heads of their kings. Other countries have a famous statue or another national symbol instead of a head. The tails are all the same in all our countries.

Great Britain and the Scandinavian countries are not participating.

Welcome to Our World Tuesday! This meme continues in memory of the work of Klaus Peter, whose "that's My World" brought people together from around the world every Monday to share the wonders therein--big and small. Please click on our  logo for "Our World Tuesday" in the sidebar. Thank you Team of O. W. T.!

With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC, and thanks to Roger. For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar. This week we are looking for words beginning with M.

"Money Money Money" (by Abba)

I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball...

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world

A man like that is hard to find but I can't get him off my mind
Ain't it sad
And if he happens to be free I bet he wouldn't fancy me
That's too bad
So I must leave, I'll have to go
To Las Vegas or Monaco
And win a fortune in a game, my life will never be the same...

The introduction of the Euro was not easy. Many European countries were against the adoption of this  coin the Dutch included, as you can see from the sticker. But as always the population gave in and we have been using the Euro for 14 years now.

.

Which countries have adopted the euro - and when?

What a gorgeous header, Wil!! Really a breathtaking sight!! And what a great, interesting post for the day as always, not to mention that I've been a fan of Abbas for a long time -- oh, and a fan of money, too!! Thanks for the smiles and the information! Hope you have a great new week!!

As always learned something new from your post. We wished Canada and the US would have a joint currency on our recent trip! Tried not to end up with handful of Canadian coins, which if we get home with them, I never can bring myself to throw away, but which I will never find again the next time we are planning to visit our Northern neighbor!

And yet, the songs I thought of were Money (Beatles, covering Barrett Strong), or Money (Pink Floyd), though I have cited the ABBA myself!

From a sentimental point of view I miss all the different European currencies.

THanks for the links! I always think of Joel Grey singing "Money Makes the World Go Around'....I like yours better. That was such a sad movie...

Thanks for the links and have a great week.

My parents liked using the Euro when they took a European river cruise through several countries. It was nice not having to get multiple currencies exchanged. An Arkie's Musings

Hi Pheno, I can't find your comment page. Your remark about money is true. I said it when I was sort of poor, and I said it when I had enough of it. Money is nice if you can share it with others and be happy together. When I had little of it we were inventive and happy.

I recently visited the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa and it was interesting to learn how they make the coins.
As for songs about money the one that comes to mind for me is Pink Floyd's Money - classic :)

Interesting as always. Here on my Island, the Isle of Man, we have our own currency in addition to also using UK's, but we can't use our currency in the UK.

Always liked that song, Wil, - probably the association with my budget...

I believe it was a brilliant idea for all those Europena countries to use the same monetary unit. I love that Abba's song too. Blessings!

'Money is the root of all evil'..sang The Andrews Sisters, a song I didn't really like.
Then the well known biblical phrase 'The love of money is the root of evil'.
Yet, we can't live without money, we need it to feed and clothe us, pay our bills and save for old age.
My husband never tires of complaining about the amount of money that Footballers and Rock stars earn. In principle he's right, but then he pays for Sky Sport to watch his favourite teams play, who are paid hefty sums of MONEY to have their matches televised!
The UK is hanging on to the Pound for dear life, we don't want to lose it to the Euro, it's part of our heritage.
Most people understand how patriotic we Brits are and want to remain as we are, and not being controlled by the bureaucrats of Brussels, so the Pound stays.(for now)!

'Money Can't Buy You Love' sang The Beatle.
Even Ella Fitzgerald recorded that too! It's a wonderful version, well worth listening to, if you like Ella!

Another MARVELLOUS post Wil,
love,
Di.xx

We just need to learn the more money we have the more we can share and help others who really are in need.
