ABC Wednesday, I for Ice cream and for Imitation

My two-year-old granddaughter in Australia is fond of eating . There is nothing she doesn't like. Here she is eating an ice cream, a chocolate ice cream!

Another thing she likes is  imitating
 everybody. Her other grandmother has been operated on one of her knees and needs therefore a crutch. My granddaughter found a thing which looked a bit like a crutch . She started to walk with it and put on a hat and far too big slippers. Off she went!!

ABC Wednesday, H for Hip Hop

A group of children of Cooktown and surroundings attended a hip hop course during their holidays. The man in black with the blue-white cap is the teacher.  He travelled all over Australia to teach children to do something useful and nice. My grandson in the red t-shirt enjoys dancing very much and more young people enjoyed this course. The children practised this several times before the real performance. The quality of these videos is bad but it shows how we saw the boys and girls  doing something quite different than their usual activities on Facebook.

Some toys are very simple and give as much joy as the most expensive gadgets. See how the baby moves the empty box from one hand to the other hand and back again.
The baby is my youngest grandchild, but you've probably guessed that already. Here she was almost 11 months old.

My daughter when she was a baby more than 40 years ago. Is her daughter going to look like her?









Last week Tuesday my daughter in Australia gave birth to a beautiful little daughter. I have this second granddaughter not seen yet, but I have booked a flight to Australia in July. The baby was born in a hospital some 300 kms from her home. To Dutch standards it's very far, and a long drive by car. In Australia it's quite common.

Bench of the Week On an Australian Bench

We were for a visit in Queensland, Australia in 2000. This is my Dutch grandson, who was eight-years old at the time. This photo is taken by
my Dutch daughter.

Two years before, my, then pregnant, Australian daughter and I sat on that same bench, while my husband took the photo, not knowing that a year later he would pass away.

This is my one and only granddaughter. She loves baking cakes and decorating them. We left for Australia on her birthday, the 15th of July.

G words: Grandchildren, granddaughter.

These are my grandchildren: Three Australian and one Dutch grandchild. Three grandsons and one granddaughter.
The Dutch grandson is 16 years old, the Australian ones are 12, 10 and 6 years old. During the holiday they played together and the Dutch grandson spoke English as if he never had spoken anything else. They could get on well together.

My grandchildren get music lessons and they love it. The eldest child is having gitar lessons, the second child is taught to play the violin and the youngest just tries to copy his sister, but who knows what he will choose...Anyway they can also sing very well, so we live in a house full of music!
