My Favourite Things, Cat a Mania

Poezen in het zonnetje = Pussycats in the sun.

About 30 years ago we started having cats. It began on a sunny Sunday when my husband decided to take the children to the swimmingpool. After a few hours they came back excited! "Mum, look what we've found!"They showed a cardboard box with three very young kittens, about ten days old. Somebody had left them in the verge near the swimmingpool. They were hungry and miaowing all the time. They couldn't drink by themselves. So the vet told us to bottlefeed them every second hour. I carried them around in my apron pocket and had to help them with everything a mothercat usually do. One of them died after a few days. Frigga was a few years old when she was run over by a car and Flucky became 19 years old. They were such lovely animals. After Frigga we had another female cat which was also very sweet. She got one litter of four which was adorable. I miss my cats, but can't have them anymore. I travel too much!

I too a a cat lover, reader wil. My dear Max - a tabby tom - aged 12 was killed by a car earlier this year. Now I have two year old cats - one black and one cream (half Siamese). The black one is totally in love with my Border Terrier pup (a girl) and they spend hours in each others arms. Glad you liked my textile.

I am about the same way but with dogs. I have had dogs since I was about 3 years old. Now, my wife of 53 years says I can't have anymore. So I asked about a cat and she said no to that also. Shucks.

Well in about a month we will have a cat staying with us, as our youngest daughter and her little girl, plus the cat will be moving back home for about 6 months to a year. Abe will have to remember not to leave the sliding door standing open like he sometimes does now, since this cat is not an outdoor cat, plus his front claws have been removed. It will be different to say the least. As far as us having another pet, I don't want to have to go through training one, worrying about leaving the house too long, since a dog has to go out every so often, and also having to run them to a doctor for shots and etc. It's easier to be without a pet. I told Abe if I die first, then he can get a pet for company. LOL

I'm very fond of cats, too. I like their independent attitude!

Two cats came into our garden and they delivered their kittens. When they grew up, they left. After that we decided to take two kittens. We fed them every day and we loved them so much, so did the kids. But they died early. We haven't told the kids about that. The pain was too much. So we decided never have an animal again.

I find myself a dog person these days, but I did have two cats for nearly 20 years before they crossed the rainbow bridge. As a child I had a yellow tabby and a calico. Very nice. Thank you for your nice comments.
