ABC Wednesday, Y for Yesterday and Year

Yesterday is gone. A new year is waiting. I sincerely hope that we will get a beautiful 2017 without disasters and terrible diseases.

We have "oliebollen" on New Year's Eve. They taste like donuts.Yesterday reminds me of the "Beatles".

With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC.For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar. This week we are looking for words beginning with Y.

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

“Yesterday” has been one of my favorite songs since I heard it when it came out, years ago. Your plate of oliebollen looks so appetizing – I wish I could find some here. I hope you had a nice Christmas and will have a very happy New Year.

Great post. I don't think I ever really paid attention to the words of that song. It's so very sad.
Wishing You, dear Wil, a very Happy New Year.

I love this song, it's before my time, but my older brother used to sing Beatles songs for my lullaby. They said when I was a baby my favorite lullaby was HEY JUDE.

Happy New Year!

I agree that I hope 2017 will be couldn't get worse without all-out war in some areas. I used to teach with a lot of Dutch people and heard about those olliebollen (sp?). They look and sound delicious! Have a wonderful New Year!

It makes my heart swell with pride when people pay tribute to the Beatles, naturally my forever
favourite group they were all very talented in their own special way.

How can I say anything else after being a teenager in the 60's,and living in Liverpool a very special 'yesterday'for me !
for me,
I sang 'Yesterday' when I played the part of Jack in 'Jack and the Beanstalk' Pantomime.
It is one of my favourite Beatles songs too.
When I saw you'd written the lyrics I had a little sing along.
The cat was giving me
strange looks, I don't think she appreciated my dulcet tones !
Thank you rekindling lovely memories for me at such a fab time of my life.

Best wishes to you for 2017 dear Wil.
Love from Di.

Happy New Year Wil -- I am late as I didn't do much blogging/reading over the HOliday period. But it is never too late to wish a good virtual friend well! Nor to thank you for your interesting posts. (And it wouldn't be too late to eat one of those delicious looking pastries if only I were there!). Happy New Year!!
