The last week in April had been a week of royal birthdays.
Queen Elisabeth celebrated hers on the 23rd April. She is 90 years old.
The Dutch King Willem Alexander was having his on the 27th April. He is now 49.
The Swedish King celebrated his 70th birthday. I have no photo of his, but you see him at the wedding of his daughter crownprinses Victoria,
All three majesties are very popular in their kingdoms and they had beautiful weather so that the people of these countries could celebrate outdoors.
In Europe we have 7 kingdoms , the principality of Monaco, the grand duchy of Luxemburg and many republics. Of course discussions flared up among the republicans of those kingdoms whether it was better to have a president or a royal head of state.
Well most people agreed that a royal head of the country has a binding factor. The entire population is united. Which is not the case when a president is the head of the country. He or she represents only part of the country and has a lot more power. The royals have hardly any power, but they exercise an influence on the nation.

I guess it's the "girl" in me but I do love all the glitz and glamour of ROYALTY.
Crowns, jewelry and long flowing dresses was always my fantasy.
Wonderful post Wil.
Creative choice for R ~ Going to London in June ~ looking forward to it ~
Not sure I agree with you about a country with a President not being head of the whole country ~ Is that what you meant???~ USA is rather strange at the moment but the President is the head of the whole country ~
Happy Week to you ~ ^_^
Hier zou ik niet opgekomen zijn.
Leuk ingevuld :-)
Fijne week
The lives of the royalties are fascinating.
My ABC WEDNESDAY
In America, we need royalty. I thought Ronald Reagan was a terrible President, but he would have been a good king.

Oh, I am all for Royalty too, Wil, - They are brought up to do the job with dignity and empathy, which cannot be said of all Presidents!
Wonderful post! I think the uniting factor of having a Royal head of state is a good thing. Let the politicians roll about in the mud of running things day to day, the Royals give people someone to admire or at least to keep and eye on!
April should be called the royal month!
I don't quite understand the royal thing. Something to research about.
That is a royal post. :)
I love our Royal Family and so proud of our Queen Elizabeth the second.
She is so unassuming but commanding in an Oh so Regal way, One of our
great British Monarchs indeed. I've written a little about our Royalty
today too, You have some wonderful 'Royals' too, I follow them closely.
Hope youare keeping well,
Best wishes,
Di.

You've given me a new perspective--about how people unite behind their royals. Never thought of it that way.
I enjoyed the beautiful photographs of the royalty you shared. However, what caught my attention the most was your comment on how royalty can help unite a country, since they represent everyone, even though they have no real power. That is certainly a point to ponder.
Since they have no power, I don't know if it makes much difference, but royals are fun to watch. That's an interesting question.
