Mary Poppins
A magic nanny comes to work for a cold banker's unhappy family. She changes the world for the two children whose father is a cold, businessman and whose mother has no time to look after them.
Feed the birds....
Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes.
In her own special way to the people she calls,
"Come, buy my bags full of crumbs.
Come feed the little birds, show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do.
Their young ones are hungry,
Their nests are so bare;
All it takes is tuppence from you."
Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag.
"Feed the birds," that's what she cries,
While overhead, her birds fill the skies.
All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares.
Although you can't see it, you know they are smiling
Each time someone shows that he cares.
Though her words are simple and few,
Listen, listen, she's calling to you:
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag."

This has always been one of my favorite songs from Mary Poppins. I'll come back again just to listen to it.
That was so much fun to watch again.... I loved that movie.
And an original and lovely idea for the alphabet meme!
Did you see the story about Dick van Dykes auto accident? I'lll steal this from Mark Evanier:
Dick Van Dyke entitled his autobiography, My Lucky Life in and Out of Show Business. Here’s yet another example of why that was a good name…
Dick Van Dyke was pulled from his burning sports car Monday afternoon after it caught fire on the 101 Freeway in Calabasas, according to California Highway Patrol officials and his personal Twitter account.
Although the agency did not identify Van Dyke by name, he and his wife both tweeted photos of the scorched vehicle.
"He’s fine thank God!!" Arlene Van Dyke wrote.
CHP responded to a report of a burning vehicle on the right shoulder of the eastbound 101 Freeway near Parkway Calabasas about 2 p.m., according to the agency’s incident log. The log noted that the driver was still inside, possibly unaware that the vehicle was on fire.
And other reports say that Dick, who’s 87, went home right after and did not need medical attention. His Jaguar was totaled but he’s unharmed.
I’ve been hanging around this man lately because I admire him and his work so much and because he’s such a nice, funny man…and also because I like seeing him with Arlene, who’s a terrific spouse/partner for him. At least, that’s why I was hanging around him. From now on, it’s just because I’m hoping some of his luck will rub off on me. That’s how it works with chimney sweeps, you know.
I love this song Wil - and I love the film too.
I may be the only person who never saw Mary Poppins. Thanks for the reminder and video. Think I will correct that over sight now and head for Netflix.
The story about Dick Van Dyke"s accident is just this minute playing on the TV in the other room. Seems he is OK.
I had forgotten about this song in the movie, it doesn't stand out as much. Julie's sweet voice is wonderful.

I love that song sung by one of the most lovely voices in the world, Julie Andrews. bravo for sharing with us "FEED the Birds"!
Feeding the birds always brings rewards. Funnily enough I've never managed to seen Mary Poppins all the way through, although I have seen the beginning and the end.

Hi! Thanks for the good old movie.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
That brought back some childhood memories. A musical post is just fabulous. Loved it. Thanks for visiting my post.
I feed the birds everyday, I over estimate the rice I cook, and usually I always have extra rice left over.
Wil, a lovely reminder of a movie I haven't seen in some time. Nicely done.
Did someone say Mary Poppins? I adored the books as a child -- so much that I never wanted to see the Disney version. And I loved the old bird woman of St. Paul's. Thanks for the reminder, Wil -- I'm going to go get my books for a nice reread.
