that's My World, ABC Wednesday Y for Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all bloggers! May this new year be full of happy surprises and lots of blogging fun! The past week has been very busy with our guests of the Taizé community. Now we celebrate New year's Eve together eating "oliebollen"( kind of doughnut balls stuffed with raisins). As there are a lot of foreigners we might also sing: "Should auld Acquaintance be forgot...

Auld Lang Syne Lyrics (contemporary)

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and days of long ago?

CHORUS:

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for days of long ago.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup!
And surely I’ll buy mine!
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for days of long ago.

CHORUS

We two have run about the hills,
and pulled the daisies fine;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since days of long ago.

CHORUS

We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine (dinner time);
But seas between us broad have roared
since days of long ago.

CHORUS

And there’s a hand my trusty friend!
And give us a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for days of long ago.

CHORUS

Happy new year Wil!
I just came back from the Dutch friends and they were telling me about oliebollen. Now I can see what they look like.

Happy New Year dear Wil!

Your wold is always full of interesting people and places.

Here unfortunately the Prof's memory is on a rapid downward slide on top of which I lost my 21 year old cat yesterday. She was such a marvellous companion.

Over Christmas we had roaring fires and yesterday we sweltered with 41C!

Hugs and Blessings . . . Arija

Those cakes, they look so delicious. We used to sing this song whenever we had a farewell party in school.

I hope you had a great New Year.

Happy New Year; Auld Lang Syne is very appropriate to say goodbye to the old year and let the new one in.

Those look yummy, Wil.
I love Auld Lang Syne, and I cringed on New Year's Eve because the TV channel we were watching had some woman who pronounced it "Old Lang Zyne" which always raises the ire in my Scottish blood.

Wishing you the best in 2011 Wil.
This little verse by an unknown author says it all:

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much
bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

Happy new year.
