Bench of the Week On an Australian Bench
We were for a visit in Queensland, Australia in 2000. This is my Dutch grandson, who was eight-years old at the time. This photo is taken by
my Dutch daughter.
Two years before, my, then pregnant, Australian daughter and I sat on that same bench, while my husband took the photo, not knowing that a year later he would pass away.

A stout bench, they'd call it here in the North Carolina mountains. A good thing, with the weight of so many memories.
Nice photos of the three of you. Nice memories now.
It is good that we cannot see into the future, reader wil, isn't it. I am sure that bench now holds such a lot of memories for you.
A bench on top of a rock - very neat.
Des souvenirs émouvants...
Quand j'aurai le temps, j'exposerai ma collection de bancs .
Merci de votre visite.
A wonderful and touching post Reader Wil. Your photos are lovely. The older I get I realize our memories are our most treasured gift. Thank you so much for stopping by.
A what a gorgeous little boy. Sorry to hear about your husband Good that you have some nice memories
Dear Reader It is true that we never know what will happen. Memories are so, so important and photographs make it even better. I am the memory keeper in my family.

Such a sad/happy story. Two good photos!
Great bench. This is my favorite so far. But I really love the story.
To me these images are about life and death. The image of your grandson, followed by that of you and your pregnant daughter, the second taken by your now dead husband are so evocative of the passage of time and life.
They blend into memories and how wonderful that they were taken ere in Australia and your displaying them from there in Holland.
For me especially, it links my own life Australia with that of my parents, especially my now dead father with that of Holland.
Thank you.
I'm sorry to hear of the sentiment adhered to the story of this bench.
It's rock solid as it looks though.
Hope the memory doesn't hurt as much as it used to.
I visited your daughter's blog today. :)
The Australians use what they have, and they have made a fine piece of work here.
I sense a certain sadness in the post, but that is perhaps as it should be. After all, future remembrance is one of the most important reasons we have for taking photos.
Foto's en herinneringen de twee mooiste dingen in het leven vind ik
I guess it is good we do not know the future. I am sorry for the sadness connected to that wonderful bench.
The first picture however could well make a fine painting.
It looks like a great location to stop and rest awhile. Very nice photos of your family, Wil.
Het is hier dan wel nat en grijs maar probeer er toch maar een leuke dag van te maken
I'm so sorry for your pain, Wil. I guess we never know what life holds for us. I worry about what will happen but I realize it can't be helped.
It's nice that you have your own personal connection with this bench...
Perfect shots! Great memories!
The boy photo is something one would love to paint - simple and sweet!
Shadows in Boston Downtown!
Such nice folks on the solid bench.
Wil, will you show us a picture of your late husband someday . . .?
He must have been very special, as you are.
