ABC Wednesday H for History
Solomon had seven hundred porcupines!!
One of my students gave me these beauties!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following were answers provided by 6th graders during a history test. Watch the spelling! Some of the funniest answers are those that are misspelled...
1. Ancient Egypt was inhabited by mummies and they all wrote in hydraulics.They lived in the Sarah Dessert. The climate of the Sarah is such that all the inhabitants have to live elswhere.
2. Moses led the Hebrew slaves to the Red Sea where they made unleavened bread, which is bread made without ingredients. Moses went up on Mount Cyanide to get the Ten Commandments. He died before he ever reached Canada.
3 Solomon had three hundred wives and seven hundred porcupines.
4 The Greeks were a highly sculptured people, and without them we wouldn't have history. The Greek also had myths. A myth is a female moth.
5..Socrates was a famous Greek teacher who went around giving people advice. They killed him. Socrates died from an overdose of wedlock. After his death his career suffered a dramatic decline.
6 In the Olympic games, Greeks ran races, jumped, hurled biscuits, and threw the java.
7 Julius Caesar extinguished himself on the battlefields of Gaul. The Ides of March murdered him because they thought he was going to be king. Dying, he gasped out "Tee hee, Brutus."
8 Joan of Arc was burnt to a steak and was canonized by Bernard Shaw.
9.Queen Elizabeth was the "Virgin Queen". As a queen she was a success . When she exposed herself before her troops they all shouted, "Hurrah!"
Wonderful! Brought back so many memories of my days as a teacher and how frequently I had such hilarious answers! Delightful post, Wil!
Enjoy your day!
Sylvia
Too, too funny. I love how kids minds work.
when I was little I always read the word Real Estate as Real Easter and couldn't figure out what they were talking about.
Hilarious!!!! One couldn't do better with modern cut-and-paste. My favourite must be Solomon, but I can't match him: I have one wife at home and two porcupines at the our cottage (but they are the "real" kind).
Thank you for the great laugh. Where would we be without any funny comments by children.
Too funny! Kids are almost always great entertainment.
Reminds me of a friend who picked up a book called Great Deserts of the World and was sorely disappointed when there were no recipes.
C'est très amusant!
En Français, nous appelons ces erreurs de potaches(c'est-à dire d'écoliers") des PERLES .
Par exemple:
La trouée érotique des reins (à la place de "la trouée héroïque du Rhin)
Les musulmans font le ramdam(pour le Ramadan)
Tapez:
"la foire aux cancres", de Jean Charles
pour lire d'autres exemples .
(Un cancre est un très mauvais élève)
This really is priceless. With the schools back tomorrow here I know many teachers you will appreciate this.
What a great entry for your H Wil, mooi en grapig. Bedankt voor uw comment and thinking...what a coincidence...Fijne dag!
I love posts like this :-)
Great fun.
Isn't it amazing what kids come up with. Hope you're having a good week.
A unique and lighthearted post, Wil. Sometimes it's funnier to go through life with a few misspellings. It helps us to see the humorous side of life.
Have a good week :D
Thank you for the charming laugh from the kiddos~ Just wonderful quotes...Sorry to be absent from reading your great blog, but been out and about...Will try and do better!
LOL, you can't help but laugh while reading these:) I sometimes read parts of my students' essays aloud to my husband because they were so funny. I just wish I had written some of these lines down! "Porcupines" probably made more sense to kids than concubines:)
Kwam je gewoon effe een fijne donderdag wensen, maar kon het toch niet laten om nog eens naar het filmpje te kijken
Great, throughly enjoyed it.
They are great! The Times posts some at times too and it's hilarious. Where would we be without children?
