Narcissus from my front yard. Click to enlarge.

Narcissus or Narkissos (Greek: Νάρκισσος) in Greek mythology was a hero from the territory of Thespiae in Boeotia who was renowned for his beauty. In the various stories he is exceptionally cruel, in that he disdains those who love him. As divine punishment he falls in love with a reflection in a pool, not realizing it was his own, and somehow dies out of frustration.

To die from frustration must be an agony. I like the flowers. And my goodness your backyard must look a little like a paradise with things so pretty. We are still looking at frost and freezing temperatures in the morning and sun the rest of the day. But it never does get warm, warm. Just a kind of virtual warm. You think it is warm but it is only an illusion.

Thank you for sharing! Those are exquisite flowers. I like seeing camelias, I don't have any because the rain is so hard on them so I enjoy other peoples! Have a very blessed Easter week!

Both are very beautiful. Our camellias start blooming in late January or early February here, although some varieties will bloom later. The one you have pictured here is lovely in its color and variegation. That is a lovely narcissus, too.

Not long after I was married, my elderly landlord used to bring me a camelia flower when he came to collect our rent. He has long passed on, and when ever I see a camelia bush, I think of him.
