Sky Watch, Environment and global warming,
If you enlarge the first photo you can see two polar bears in a very difficult situation. These photos were not taken by me of course.
Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations. VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour. Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm.
Sky Watch is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Ivar, Wren, Fishing Guy & Louise
Thank you so much for this great meme, it's always a pleasure to participate, and see all the other skies around the world. If you want to see the other skies please click on the logo in the side bar.

My entry for SWF post this week: in HERE. I hope that you can stop by as well. Thanks
Thanks for posting these pictures - they're sobering, but anything that raises awareness about global warming is a good thing.
Enjoy the earth hour where you are!
I intend on turning off our lights for the hour.......thanks for reminding us all about it....

Beautiful reminder of this weekend.
Very important post. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the reminder, Wil! It's a very serious situation we're in!
Great post and shot. This will be my second year participating in earth hour. Thanks for bringing attention to an important issue.
I am on board for VOTE EARTH. Thanks for the info. I wonder if someone will rescue those polar bears....
I am supporting earth hour, too. A very important endeavor. We need to think of our planet as a friend.
i will be switching off...no doubt about it.
thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.
take care and have a good weekend.
Hello Wil
Great post. Thank you for the awakening.
I also love the pics on your sidebar of the chimp and white tiger cub playing. They are adorable!
Take care
Lisa
I will be sitting in front of a dark house on my porch during that time period enjoying the night sky and have encouraged my friends to do the same.
Those bears break your heart. Thanks for keeping up the effort. None of us can quit trying.
Once again you bring up a serious question - and once again I have to agree with you. I feel a bit ashamed about all the drivel I post.
You have my full support.
That's very sad, seeing the polar bear paws reaching for purchase.
I'm making a note to turn out my lights at the prescribed time.
I love how you change your title photo every week. You always have such beautiful scenes.
I believe that shot is taken by a Norwegian photographer! He took a serie of the bears, and if I don't remember wrong he one a price for one of the shots!
The one you show here, is quite interesting; watch the ice to the wright on the picture; it looks like a polar bear shouting/crying!
Thank you for posting this! It is a reminder to us all!
And there are those who say there's no such thing as global warming!!!! Thanks for sharing this. Have a good weekend!
It breaks my heart to see these Polar Bears in these kinds of situations. What a waste of life. We have made life impossible for so many things and now the great Polar Bears is going to drown in the rising waters.
Hi Wil, You are to modest. Those who make a difference should always be Honored and you are one of them. This post is so typical of the wonderful things you post about. People like you make the world a better place! Thank you for being part of my world...
I like to turn off the lights for longer than that. I did this last year and just left them off. I am a bit cynical about these kinds of token events however.
I love the shot of the polar bears. Too cute. Thank you for your environmental awareness. I will participate also.
Wow, I love this post very much, so much awareness and information. My heart goes for the polar bears and I can just imagine their situation.
I love that logo of the "Man belongs to Earth..."
Groetjes en Prettige Dag!
Hi again! I don't remembr the name of the photographer - but I will try to find out! I read about him not long ago.
But I have a question also; Er du norsk - eller hvor har du lært å snakke/skrive så bra norsk om du ikke er det?
Great posting. Thank you for sharing.
Ohhhh... I`m crying for those bears. This is really sad, sad...
I was thinking about you and your engagement today, when I read in a Norwegian paper about earth our. Thank you for reminding me - we are going to switch of, ofcourse.
Have a great weekend.
Hallo again! I have tried to find the name - and I may have mixed together two photos. I found out that the one I have read about, is the photographer Arne Nævra - and his photo is of one polar bear, not two. You can see his shot here;
http://www.fotopia.no/fullnews.asp?newsid=3621 or here:
http://www.aftenposten.no/viten/article2068387.ece
It is the same theme, polar bears with no more ice - that is why i mixed it. Didn't find the picture you have!
And you write Norwegian very well! I am impressed! And I have been in Netherland, and loved your country!
It took me awhile to find the polar bears. Great photo!
Great ! I vote earth too.
Earth Hour sounds like a great endeavor. It's the very least any of us can do. Thanks.
Geez, it is scary that Mother Earth is ailing. I am with you. I will be using candle for tomorrow night for the Earth Hour. Hope to be able to take a pic. Have a nice weekend.
Great photos, and great message. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the reminder!
Before i read your comment i looked as i thought there were polar bears on that ice, so had to enlarge it. Wonderful
foto's zoals deze kunnen niet genoeg worden getoond want het is dringend nodig dat er iets veranderd.
Groetjes
Global warming is tragic for a number of species, and yet it is part of the way our climate works. In the middle ages there were mines in the Alps the adits of which can now again be seen. We have always gone from Ice Ages to Global Warming. There just has not been the global communication system to show it to the rest of the world.
Hi Arija! You 're right about the climate, but it doesn't harm us if we save electricity, gas, water and food. It's not such a bad idea to look after the earth and handle her with kindness and care. The ozon layer is getting thinner. It is said that we are to blame for it. In the middle ages they had not many means to communicate, but we had no cars, no waste of plastic and other modern materials. There were no power-stations. Nature could restore itself faster than at this moment.
this is fabulous, i must say this is one of the greatest sky i've seen this friday...keep it up

I sure will be a part in Earth's hour too. I plan on taking a nice candle lit bath...haha. Thanks for sharing this, very sad picture though...
Take care, Lorne
WOw that photo really brings it home, so glad polar bears can swim!
Great post!
Did somebody rescue those polar bears?
Good to see more Earth Hour posts.
Kom je een fijn weekend wensen.
Groetjes
Even enlarging the photo, I almost missed the two polar bears.
8:30-9:30, got you. Have a wonderful wee-end.
A terrific post indeed!!!
I DEFINITELY intend to do my part!
This is a very important message.
Hugs♥
Excellent reminder for us all. Of course I've seen the photos before ... even shared the first one some time ago for an OSI post at Small Reflections ... but every time I see it my heart responds and I take some purposeful action environmentally. Thanks ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
I read recently that the polar bears near Churchill, Manitoba have taken to cannabalism due to their shrinking arctic ice.
