Bushfires in south Australia. floods in the north

A blogger (Marja) from New Zealand wrote on her blog:

" Our neighbour country is in a state of sorrow. They lost many lives and so many people lost their homes mostly in Kinglake and surrounded areas by the worst bushfires ever recorded. It happened during an exceptional heatwave. The smoke of the fire even reached New Zealand."

She offered her condolences and so do I

It's hard to believe all the death and destruction caused by those fires. They definitely need our thoughts and prayers.

It is such a terrible tragedy that for once I hope our UK Government just wades in there and helps instead of discussing what to do.

I just read Merle's (Merle's Third Try) and her brother's Peter's blog. Peter has posted a lot of pictures of the devastation. It is really a very sad situation. They both live in Australia.

Yes, it sounds so horrible. We can only pray they will come through this safely. I hope Merle will be ok.

It's very scary. I've been near much smaller, less severe fires and can't imagine what this one is like.

I hope your daughter, her family, and all others are kept safe.

Als je de beelden ziet is het verschrikkelijk voor de mensen in Australië. En dan zoveel slachtoffers, erg heel erg vind ik dit.

I pray for the souls of persons that were lost unfairly by the hell of fire!
My homeland regret still the 70 persons that were lost one year before by the same cause!
I feel anger for those that put fires.

Wow. I love your banner photo, Wil.

I also read your post about the fires.

About all we hear lately is the terrible fires. The last time there were 166 dead and it was feared even more bodies would be found. And to think that an arsonist maybe started them.

I don't think there is enough punishment for a person that does something like this. Maybe the old ways had some merit where they used ot kill a person found guilty a little bit at a time.

Thanks everybody for the comments it's such a disaster, and then in a place, where it should be cooler in summer, than where my daughter lives. I know people in Cooktown who go to the south because it's much nicer there during the Australian summer.

Floods in North Queensland, Fire in Victoria. I wish I have a magic wand and whisk the rain clouds to the fire.

In New Zealand, we havd constant up dates on the fire. There is a donation drive besides the Government pledging to help.
