The Australian Brush Turkey.Other names: Brush Turkey, Scrub Turkey, Wild Turkey.
They live in closed forest from Cape York in Queensland to Woolongong in New South Wales. Most of my daughter's 16 hectare large property consists of rainforest, which houses among other creatures Brush Turkeys. A few of them have become tame, and as soon as the ducks are being fed, they appear and try to get some of the ducks'food. That's why it was not difficult to take photos and a short video.
This bird is between 60 and 70 cm long.
The eggs are incubated in large mounds of vegetable matter built by the male.

I love the botanical pictures down the side of your site, Reader wil. Also the picture of windmills across the top. I have friends in Hillegom and they send me pictures of the glorious Netherlands scenery - it all looks so clean and wholesome.
I learned today that Australia has wild turkeys. That's what I like about blogging, learning new things. ;-)
