This is the beginning of the threat ...

When a thunderstorm is eminent I disconnect all the plugs of electric apparatus from the power points. Once my house was struck by lightning and I lost my TV set, video and DVD set, the radio and my telephone-fax apparatus. I had no computer then, but those of my neighbours were all damaged.

Enjoy other views of the sky on today's Sky Watch, hosted by Tom at Wiggers World

We get lots of clouds and rain in British Columbia, but fortunately thunderstorms are not too frequent. For us, the wind is the most dangerous. I chose a solar halo for my contribution. I invite you to come see. -- Margy

Middle Ditch That's also true that skies can look dark and nothing happens and sometimes the sky is blue and suddenly there is a bolt of lightning.

That is an amazing sky.

I am doing a mini series on the viking and the Isle of Man this week, partly inspired by you inquiring about norse place names.

Gosh it starts out so beautiful doesn't it...
We rarely get thunderstorms but when we do they're downright wicked.

Thanks Babooshka! I read your most interesting post about the vikings. It's true that when a Viking died one of the slave girls was killed to serve him in the afterlife. This happened in a very cruel way.

Hi Janice, yes the most beautiful skies have sometimes nasty surprises in store for us!

I love this photo and the one below!

Lightening has struck out house twice and got our tv's, as well as a battery charger for my husband's cordless drill.
