Our World Tuesday., ABC Wednesday, U for Unesco

A UNESCO World Heritage Site is a site that has been nominated for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's international World Heritage program.

The program aims to catalogue and preserve sites of outstanding importance, either cultural or natural, to the common heritage of humankind.

All of these sites I have seen in reality and taken photos of, only the photos of Great Barrier Reef are from Steve Parish.

We saw in Greece Acropolis of Athens.

In the Netherlands: The windmills of Kinderdijk

Norway : Bryggen( old part of Bergen)

                                                                 Israel: The Old City

The Bent Pyramid is a unique example of early pyramid development in Egypt, about 2596 BCE. This was the second pyramid built by Sneferu.

There are three pyramids at Giza, each of which once had an adjoining mortuary temple. Attached to this temple would have been a covered causeway descending down to a valley temple, near the Nile. The 'great' pyramid itself is truly an astonishing work of engineering skill - for over four thousands years, until the modern era, it was the tallest building in the world.

The Pyramid of Djoser(Zoser), or step pyramid is an archeological remain in the Saqqara necropolis, Egypt, northwest of the city of Memphis. It was built for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser by his vizier Imhotep, during the 27th century BC.

These are only a few shots of the wonders of our planet. Try to find more! Look around, take photos and read about all those treasures.

Welcome to Our World Tuesday! This meme continues in memory of the work of Klaus Peter, whose "that's My World" brought people together from around the world every Monday to share the wonders therein--big and small. Please click on our new logo for "Our World Tuesday" in the sidebar.

We thank Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC, and we must thank Roger too for the weekly job to find  ten bloggers for each of the ABC Team members  to visit and to read their posts. For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar . This week we are looking for words    beginning with U.

Isn't it an amazing world we live in?
I wish I could visit many of the places you posted.
The photo from Netherlands of the very narrow wooden street and the buildings jutting out is fascinating.
I think I would have gone camera crazy there.

Oops, If I had been paying attention and reading all the descriptions I would have seen that my favorite photo said Norway and not Netherlands...(:0)
Love it either way and wish I could see it for myself.
