In January 2014 I stayed with my family in the sweltering heat of Cooktown. It was great to be in the library of Cooktown for this was good to keep cool.
The front of the library is adorned with this piece of Aboriginal art.
My daughter behind the desk, works several days in the week in this library |
These three flags are important for Australia. The Aboriginal flag in the middlebetween the Torres Strait Islander flag and the Australian flag. They are threeofficial flags. |

Nice to see your daughter at her job! The weather looks like that of Florida in the summer, hot and humid!
I do agree with Jeanette, Wil, nice to see your daughter and, yes, the weather does look like that in Florida -- hot and humid!! I'm happy to live in the northwest and definitely prefer it in spite of an over abundance of gray, wet days! But our worlds tend to be what we make them in many ways. Hope your week is off to a great start!!
What a charming library.
This librarian approves!
Wow... library! My kind of word for L.
Library... such a good choice for 'L'.
I have a special place in my heart for libraries as my grandmother was a librarian for 52 years!!!
I just knew Roger would like this post! I love libraries but wonder if they will become a thing of the past as e-books become more and more popular. I sure hope not!
What a great place to work!
Wonderful, I love libraries!
I have a great fondness for libraries, they are a wonderful escape, one can get lost for hours exploring the shelves.
This looks like a delightful place to read and get out of the humidity.
love the photo of your daughter.

Fabulous library and librarian!
This is a well equipped librARY. i LOVE LIBRARIES.
I forgot to say, when I was in secondary school, I joined up to be a library. One of the perks was getting to read the new books before the others.
a very inviting library!!
Great and different Idea behind this Library.
I LOVE libraries. This one has a very homey feel and I'd have loved to come to this library.XD
Very nice photos, glad you had a nice visit. Really like your header at the top. Beautiful, but it seemed to take a while to open when I came to your blog. Perhaps it was Firefox, which is what I use.
Nice to see you again Wil and thanks for the comment. I am 79, Wil and I will be 80 in October. I think we are the same age. I was born in 1934. In October of that year.
I absolutely love libraries and this is a wonderful one. Your daughter has the perfect job (in my opinion)...
It is beautiful to know that the aboriginal flag is one of Australia's official ones. It makes me very happy to know that.
Libraries are wonderful places. We have having a library feud in our town. Everyone agrees we need a larger one, but no once can agree about where it should go. It's been over a year now and still no decision. It'll go to a vote next fall. I'm sure that will be a battle as well. - Margy
Hello Wil,
What a wonderful Library, seems to be a vital part of the community, so much colour too.
I was an avid reader as a child and spent countless hours in the local library, thanks to the encouragement of the librarians I was able to read by the age of four, which put me in good stead for starting school at the age of five.
Lovely picture of your daughter, she sure looks happy in her job.
Best wishes,
Di.
Library...oh wow! what a place!
