International Women's Day 2014 Theme: INSPIRING CHANGE
International Women's Day is not a day of rejoycing and celebration, it is a day of commemoration and concern for all those women and girls, who from the day they were born, are considered to be inferior to men.In many countries they are married off at a very young age and punished if they refuse.
There are countries, where rape victims are beaten, while the rapists get off with a mild punishment or even with no punishment at all.
Gang rapes are normal in certain countries, though many other people in those countries oppose this highly.
Women in some countries are not allowed to walk or sit next to their husbands.
Girls in some countries have to under go the extremely painful circumcision, which is forbidden in the Netherlands, thank God.
Each year International Women's Day
(IWD) is celebrated on March 8. The first International Women's Day
was held in 1911.

An inspiring and interesting post. Not so much is made of it in this country unfortunately.
You know... If it weren't for blogs I wouldn't even know about this. It wasn't even in the news here in Hawaii. This is truly something that should be celebrated!
Dear RW, a very important post. I read a lot of articles about these horrible stories of how women are treated every day. Horrific conditions! I am glad their voices are being heard. A slow process but still, a small pebble causes many ripples in the water.
Reading about all the atrocities on women , one has to think twice before celebrating but help to improve the status of women. This will take a long time.
celebrate modern women, New Zealand who were the first to get the vote.
