Our World Tuesday ,ABC Wednesday, G for The Girl who silenced the world for 5 minutes

Twenty years ago this twelve years old girl addressed the U.N. meeting on environmental problems.
Wikipedia says:
"Severn Cullis-Suzuki (born November 30, 1979 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian environmental activist, speaker, television host and author. She has spoken around the world about environmental issues, urging listeners to define their values, act with the future in mind, and take individual responsibility. She is also the daughter of Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki.

A lot of thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC, and Roger, the new captain of the team.Click on the logo in the sidebar if you want to see the other posts. This week we are looking for words beginning with G.

It is nice to see young people do care about the environment and the world we live in. We do need more people like her. Great post and thanks for sharing.

David Suzuki certainly had an influence on his daughter when she was twelve. She helps him carry the mantle to this day. Sometimes we listen because something unique catches our attention but then we forget. Changes are slow in coming and words (even David Suzuki’s) still too often fall on deaf ears. Very interesting post for the day!

Great post. Sad how we have to keep reminding ourselves about some of the most basic human behaviors and rights...

Fantastic post. I am amazed not only by how well she wrote the speech at such a young age but also by her poised and impassioned delivery. Carver, ABC-Wed. Team

Addressing the UN at twelve years old is quite something Wil. Lovely header by the way. Looks a bit like Norway.

What an incredible girl and speech. It took such courage to go up there and state her case and express her frustration with world leaders. Sadly, I'm not seeing much accomplished. There is still such terrible waste and pollution. I don't like to go out in the sun here in Hawaii because of the holes in the ozone.
