ABC Wednesday, P for Prayer Shawl

This Prayer Shawl of David Ben David survived the fire caused by the Nazis, burning all synagogues in Czechoslovakia, and the sea after the ship which took David Ben David to Israel, was bombed. Later, when David was defending the kibbutz Gush Etzion against the Arabs, it survived the sword.
This Prayer Shawl is a sign of hope and revival.

With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC. For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar . This week we are looking for words beginning with P.

Oh WoW! It's unbelieveable that it survived all that...but then God's grace is all powerful.

That's funny....I just was looking at a book a few days ago about making prayer shawls. But, this one-most certainly powerful. THanks for sharing this treasure!

A beautiful prayer shawl, and evidently meant to survive to become a 'powerful' symbol.

such a beautiful tallit...thank you for sharing its story with us. My cousin who is a rabbi just did a whole ceremony on Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) with a rescued Torah...the Torah needed to be repaired. They found the last person who read from it before it was stolen by the Nazis...he was supposed to be skyped in to the ceremony where it would be read again for the first time in all these years, but had a stroke the day before. His family was able to participate in the ceremony however...I get teary whenever I think of it.
