ABC Wednesday, N for Nicholas Nickleby

Another book by the great Charles Dickens! His third book.

Nicholas Nickleby; or, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. Originally published as a serial from 1838 to 1839.
The novel centers around the life and adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, a young man who must support his mother and sister after his father death. His Uncle Ralph, who thinks Nicholas will never amount to anything, plays the role of the bad character.

For all romantic people among you: it has a happy ending, like most of Dickens's books.

I must admit that I've never read this. BUT I have seen adaptations of it on stage and screen.

A fine novel. Dickens was the best, even if many of his books are, shall we say, over long.

Somehow I never really liked Dickens all that much. But he has shaped our perception of Victorian England very much, even for those who have never read him. Here's a great comic about his books.

I hate to admit it, but I've never read this book or seen the movie. Love the trailer and will probably try and rent it sometime soon. What a fabulous cast! Thanks for a great entry today.

Excellent selection for the letter N, Wil. Two Ns in one, by the great Charles Dickens. My husband loves Dickens. Maybe it's his name?
I hope you are well, my friend. You'll have to be dressing warmly to ride your bicycle at this time of year.
Cheers, Kay and Dick

It's been years since I've read any Dickens. This would be a good book with which to get reacquainted.

I am probably the only person in the world, who has not read much of Mr. Dickens. I have never read this book, but have seen some movies based on Dickens books.

I must admit that Nicolas Nickleby was one of those Dickens' novels that I didn't really appreciate.

J’ai lu plusieurs livres de Dickens mais pas celui-ci. J’aime beaucoup votre photo des raisins.
