Sky Watch, Weekend Reflections, The Netherlands

On 24th September we went for an autumn walk in the polders. A polder is a piece of land surrounded by dikes and kept dry by an electric engine, which pumps the water into a canal, and then into the river. In former times, when we had no electricity, the windmills did this job. Don't forget that this country is for a large part lying below sea level. But it has a certain beauty especially when the weather is fine like it was then.

Sky Watch is hosted by Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and Sylvia

Your reflections are always so wonderful. I have yet to capture one.
Interesting about the polders. The Dutch had to be great engineers to thrive below sea level.

Hi there - great pictures - all that water must make your country a bit of a wonderland for reflections.

This all looks so lovely. You could probably get some (other) great reflections without threat of waves disturbing.

Beautiful reflections, Wil. The second photo is also rather fun.
Mara's part of your country is reclaimed land. She says she lives at the bottom of the sea.
Mara and I sure had a great time exploring a bit of Alberta with my dog, and we talked about you and my visit with you at the windmills earlier this year.
