Monday Doorways, Great Britain, Oxford I

Posted by Picasa

This is a doorway of a University building in Oxford which was used as the library of Hogwarts in the books of Harry Potter.

Inspired by a post by Eric Tenin of a Parisian doorway, «Louis» began posting on Mondays photos he had taken of doorways in Paris. To participate click on

This is a very ornate -- beautiful -- doorway. I would definitely like to see this in person.

I am enjoying your Oxford photos Wil because it is one place I have never visited in this country.

Your pictures of Oxford bring back so many wonderful memories. Please keep posting them and putting a big smile on my face. I did not realize this was the door used in HP. Interesting. It is beautiful in this capture. The shades of color in the stone against the beautiful wood is a treat for the old eyes.

That looked like a place worth a visit or two. Oxford is one of the places in england on my "list" :-)

It is beautiful but with just a touch of sinister. Would love to walk through it.

A wonderful old doorway and I can envision it as the library of Hogwarts.

C’est une porte gothique qui va bien avec un livre de contes fantastiques.

I've been to Oxford twice -- and I always walk around in a dream-like state, thinking of C.S. Lewis and Dorothy L. Sayers.

Interesting fact that i didn't know.
I've never been down that way but there are some fine examples all over this ancient country.
Beautiful to behold

They do not build doorways like that in this country. I wish they did.
