ABC Wednesday, R for Romans
The Romans left their traces all over Great Britain. Think of the Hadrian Wall, of the City of Bath, think of London!! Even in Dover we found the remnants of a Roman Villa. Well see for yourself what great engineers the Romans were! They were important for Great Britain and also for other European countries like mine. Maybe they were even our ancestors, they certainly affected our languages these Romans.
With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC.For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar or Here. This week we are looking for words beginning with R.
Bath was built on a hot water spring. See my next post on Weekend Reflection.

Hi Wil. I've just been watching your videos. Classic!
Yes, those Romans were good at building but in Israel they were also experts in destroying.
Yes, there's a massive Roman legacy over here in the UK. Great post.
Builders and destroyers , sophisticated yet barbarian. They did it all.

I do agree that the Romans did a bit of everything and certainly left a legacy in many countries! Terrific, fascinating post for the day, Wil! Hope your week is going well! Enjoy!

What an interesting and informative post...Their influence is seen everywhere.
You're right, Wil, I always think of the Romans as the bad guys, but of course their legacy (after they left) has lived on in many, many ways.

Wow... what a beautiful place.
Hi Kris, thanks for your visit. I wanted to answer you on your blog, but I have no access! Sorry! Have a great week.
Very interesting and even though they were destroyers we have a lot to thank them for.
Love your post today. thanks.
Romans as conquerers left a legacy both good and bad. They were an enormously advanced civilization. Even as we write we use the Roman alphabet, the most widely used alphabetic writing system in the world.
They certainly have left a lasting effect on Western Civilization, that's for sure!! Spectator sports such as football always makes me think of gladiator games.
Love the Monty Python bit! On the few times I've been to England, I've always sought out the Roman remains -- fascinating!
What a very interesting post Wil, - I have been here for ages contemplating all that the Romans accomplished and how they have influenced the world. We are so smug about our new inventions, but they showed a great inventiveness and reasoning power.
I love being part of ABC, it enRiches my vocabulaRy. You choice of R is teRRific!
Would you mind to visit my R post, please?
They did some good, some bad! Your photos are beautiful and very much appreciated!
Glad you stopped by. I tried to open your blog yesterday and it kept shutting my computer down. Today seems to be working.
We have hot spring baths here in Arkansas, compliments I am sure of the Romans.
Wil, you always have such informative and well thought out posts each week. And you did it again with your R post today.
Yes it's amazing were the romans have been. I think it's shorter to list where they have NOT been, lol !
I love your posts Wil. Also I like the new color themes on your blog. You always have such interesting things to talk about. The Roman were very good at constructing weren't they.
The romans did a lot of things for us, but at least they didn't invent good ol' fish n' chips
Very historical.
I think, I am not sure these rodents are possums. In New Zealand possoms were introduced for their fur long time ago. The fur business were noot lucrative, th epossums became feral, and spread every where. They became obnoxious animals biting tree trunks and killing saplings and eating fruits. I have no idea how the raps caught them.
My friend uses fruit to trap them. Recently, possum fur have become very good again. They are warmer than other fur including wool. I will ask my friend.
We have marveled at the Roman engineering. They were an incredible people.
Chère Reader Will: vous êtes toute excusée!aucun problème!
Je connais cette ville et ses richesses archéologiques- c'est aussi un but de sorties pédagogiques pour les élèves français qui vont y étudier les traces des romains en Angleterre (mon fils y est allé avec sa classe)
