Psalm 10

Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

German concentration camp.

10 The helpless are crushed, sink down,
and fall by his might.
11 The enemy says in his heart, “God has forgotten,
he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”

Japanese concentration camp for women and children. Boys older than ten were sent to a camp for men.

12 ARISE, O LORD; O GOD, LIFT UP YOUR HAND;
FORGET NOT THE AFFLICTED.
13 Why does the wicked renounce God
and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”?
14 But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation,
that you may take it into your hands;
to you the helpless commits himself;
you have been the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer;
call his wickedness to account till you find none.

16 The Lord is king forever and ever;
the nations perish from his land.
17 O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted;
you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear
18 to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.

Sigh ... we are all having to bring out the heavy photos for today's Psalm. Is the second a personal photo, Wil, from where your family was?

Those photos just break my heart. Holding on to hope in those conditions had to be by faith alone.

Very poignant photos for this psalm. It is so sad that radical suffering, injustice and oppression are still happening in this world, and yet we know the day is coming when "man who is of the earth may strike terror no more."

I think the 'heavier' pictures are appropriate.

Yes, faith is hard to hold on to in times of great suffering and hardship.
Both such heartbreaking photos.

A deep bow in respect of this entry of yours.

Being of German origin, these make me silent indeed and I can only as to pardon.

I thank you very much for your participation. May these be the corner stones of history, building up a brighter and peaceful future.

Please have a good start into the new week.

Man's inhumanity to man is indeed a 'heavy' burden. May we all work to make things like this a thing of the past.

Yes, it's a challenge. Thank you.

This is so sad, so unbelievably tragic and painful.
