Sky Watch, Australia,

Queensland is again the target of a natural disaster. I was worried very much for my daughter and her family, who live in North Queensland, in Cooktown, so I rang her last night. She assured me that they were fine. Hardly any wind, no rain either. On TV. I saw the damage done by Yasi in other parts of Queensland. Poor people whose houses are destroyed. Fortunately there are no casualties. Let's hope that this will be the last cyclone this season. Five years ago cyclone Larry destroyed a large part of Queensland. The traces of Larry were still visible when I was in Queensland in August. Yasi is even worse than Larry.

What a lot of bad luck. Too much to beat for one place. And of course, constant worry for you. Such a turbulent weather picture.

I am so relieved and happy that your daughter is safe, Wil! What good news that had to be for you! Queensland has definitely had more than it's share of extreme weather this year. I'm so glad your daughter and family are all right! How awful it must have been to worry about them when they live so far away.

We have been reading and watching what has been going on in Australia. Thankfully your family is safe.

Het lijkt maar niet op te houden, daar in Queensland. Blij dat de mensen het hoofd erbij houden en dat er relatief weinig persoonlijke ongelukken zijn gebeurd.

Die header-foto is formidabel!

Goed weekend gewenst,

Poor Queensland just can't catch a break this year.

Glad to hear your daughter is OK... Luckily, the cyclone didn't hit as hard as they thought it would.

It has been a very rough ride for Queensland this summer. Unfortunately there also has been a life lost.

Glad your family is safe.

Things are grim in places in Victoria too, Reader.

Only tonight we've had mild flooding here, nothing like
Yasi though.

That sounds like the worst imaginable, though fortunately so far I believe no one has died. People were prepared, they took precautions and though many have lost everything, they still have their lives and that is the most important thing.

I'm glad your daughter and family are safe.

Floods here in Australia remind me of De Ramp in Holland in 1953. Do you remember it?

Floods are no laughing matter, especially when they go around destroying peoples homes
