Bench of the Week in Oosterend, Texel

Walking through the little village of Oosterend on Texel (see previous post), you cannot but notice that many people have a bench in front of their houses. The houses have no front gardens so the benches are just placed on the street.

RuneE of Visual Norway
began this informal meme on "Bench of the Week". Please visit his site for other participants. PERBS has a whole site dedicated to benches called "For the Love of Benches", which is going on for two years and every day she posts a new bench. Her friend Malyss. has shown more than 600 benches on a site called "benchesonmyway".

I would be more than happy to sit on any one of those benches for a chat with you, Wil.

Wonderful photos, Wil. Those are great benches. I'd have to go into Honolulu to get any decent benches. They're not very pretty where I live.

You found more than one! Never been at Texel, Wil:)
I love your new header too - looks so cozy, dat binnenhofje!

Fijn weekend.

I think I need to be more observant as I meander around my little town and see how many benches I will see and then just for fun, photograph them.

You have a variety of benches you have posted. As I look out my front porch window I see two already.

Have a nice week-end.

I love benches. I only have a couple of photos of them though, so I wouldn't be able to participate in this meme. I will just have to enjoy your photos and stories. Thanks for sharing these with us Wil.

I like the second one, very natural use of resources. What are the plants?

You should have written "bencheS of the week"! what a beautyful collection! As ppeople have no garden, benches are taking part of the city decoration; I think my favorite is this old one, , made of rough wood..I also love the one which is used to put lovely flowers pots on it; well, you made my day! :)
Have a nice week-end!

I see that Malyss has already made the right comments :-) And I side with her about the old bench. If benches only could speak...

love these benches,
they are very useful for tourists who are tired of walking and need a break.
Cool post,
Happy Saturday!

What a wonderful group of benches you have today! Thanks for sharing!

The first one looks ritzy.

I saw many log benches when I was camping on Mount Rainier with Katney.

The big bench against the building is in a nice setting with the flowers.

The bench with the potted flowers looked like it had a high back -- until i realized it was a part of the window sill.

The last one is my very favorite. So simple to make and so beautiful! Plenty of room for several people to sit!

Thanks for dropping by. I think I am not signed in as PERBS but it is me anyway.

These are great choices to post, Wil. It's nice to see planters with flowers, too.
