ABC Wednesday S for Scotland

In 2005 I went to Scotland for the first time in my life.We arrived in New Castle in the morning and continued our journey to Windermere, where I bought some souvenirs and a book by Beatrix Potter, who lived in the Lake District. The Hadrian's Wall was the next sight on our program. We also paid a visit to Gretna Green, where a wedding was going on, complete with bagpipes playing men in kilts. Of all the places we visited, I was very much impressed by the castles, especially Starling Castle and Edingburgh Castle. The weather was not really bad, but a bit of more sunshine would have been lovely!

I shall be away for a couple of days, but shall answer all comments as soon as I am back! Have a great week!

With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC.For more interesting ABC posts click on the logo in the sidebar or Here. This week we are looking for words beginning with S.

My wife went to Scotland, a preplanned trip, two months after we got married. She liked it, but we were both a bit sad, too.

A wonderful tour, Wil! I visited Scotland a few years ago and was entranced by Hadrian's wall! Also the beautiful garden at the Grant's Distillery where I saw my first Himalayan blue poppy!

Oh, I loved Scotland. Back in '98 I traveled with my oldest daughter who had just graduated college. We stayed in Glasgow for a few days and then rented a car and drove all over that beautiful country and Ireland as well (we crossed on a large ferry). I remember Stirling Castle so well even though at that time it was undergoing a major refurbishment. We saw the "peephole" in the all where a very young Queen Victoria watched the exercises below.

What a delightful slide show. That is a trip I would love to make. Scotland has always drawn me.
I get weak kneed when I hear a man talk in the Scotish accent and I do love the bagpipes.
What lovely country side. Thank you.

I second everything that you say about Scotland (and Windermere and Harridan's wall too). I have been there several times and I still can't get enough. Maybe it is because they have the same climate as we have? :-)

Lovely post about your trip to Scotland! There are several countries that begin with the letter "S" and I was tempted to choose one of them (Guess which one!) but decided to keep to my blog's main area of interest, jewellery-making.
Best wishes,
Anna
