A rare sight in the Netherlands. These are photos taken on last Sunday. We measured the amount of snow that had fallen : it was more than 15 cm high!. It's difficult for traffic because nobody was prepared to deal with so much snow and there's more coming!

That's my World is hosted by Klaus,Sandy,Ivar,Wren,Fishing Guy & Louise - a Team of experienced bloggers, whom we thank for this wonderful meme. You can see more of the world of other bloggers by clicking on the logo in the side bar or on that's My World

Brrr. Looks beautiful, but so cold!

I find 81 degrees in Hawaii cold. I have been wearing a heavy sweater for days now. Sometimes in January, it dips to 55 degrees at night. No heater in the house, unfortunately, so we all suffer.

Your pictures are outstanding, I loved it and all snow scenery!
I'm so happy to see snow here as well! It's so romantic, but I can imagine all mess and troubles if it snowing so much and people are not preparing.
Ahh and your header picture is also fabulous!
Stay warm!
Hugs
Léia

Looks so cold. Right now at 1:30pm our temp is 30 degrees F. Also damp which makes it seem that much more chillier out there.

First time i have a seen a photo of more than a couple of centimeters in the Netherlands. Must have been awful traffic!

Jolies photos!
Les jeux de luge plaisent toujours aux enfants, aux Pays Bas et ailleurs!
Circulation difficile aussi en Normandie.
je n'ai pas eu le temps de télécharger le logiciel...

The picture of the little kid is so cute. He/she must be having a ball in the snow.

Wonderful snaps of snow in Netherlands. 15cm is quite high and I can see almost everything is covered by snow.

Beautiful wintery scenes! Maybe you will have a white Christmas.

Wonderful winter scenes. I love the fact that many places that don't usually get alot of snow are gonna experience a white christmas.

All the best

A beautiful white world but I know it is a challange for those who need to travel.

It looks very beautiful there right now, Wil!

It's not easy to drive in snow if you're not used to it. The first snowfall of the year is even problem for Canadians - there are always many, many road accidents.

WE hebben winter en behoorlijk ook. Na zo'n mooie zomer moet dat misschien wel. IK kan me niet herinneren dat we zo.n hoop sneeuw hebben gehad. Misschien in 1963?

This would have been my mother's world, when the snow fell regularly in Haarlem. Thanks for bringing it back to life for me.

Driving is always difficult here too as we are rarely prepared for snow. We have had quite a bit too.

Indrani said...

That is quite deep! The children around are having fun I guess. Great shots!
Wish you A Merry Christmas!

How beautiful. Assume the kids are having fun. Over here it is still above 17C during midday...miss home back in Germany and most of all snow...please have a wonderful Tuesday.

The snow is so beautiful. I hope you enjoyed the surprise snow!

brrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
Snow is very rare here in the Bay Area, though we did have a bit Monday a week ago, at least on the hills.

When we want snow, we drive to Lake Tahoe....

(«Louis» hasn't been to Tahoe in 20 years...)

Blijft toch mooi die winter foto's, maar hier is het al beginnen dooien

Dirkjogt said...

Ja overal dezelfde mooie winterbeelden, onze dochter (2,5 jaar) vindt de sneeuw niet echt leuk.

Wil, regarding your question about the Christmas tree, it came from Oregon.

All best wishes to you and your family this Christmas!

Oh! Your snow pictures are lovely. We are expecting a big storm here in the next few days. I do not look forward to it. Brrrr..... I hate the cold.

Sylvia K said...

It does look cold -- beautiful, but cold! We had that last winter, kind of hope we get to skip it this year although I loved the beauty of it, it did make getting around difficult because Seattle hasn't had weather like that in 30 years and the whole city -- airport included -- shut down.

Enjoy the beauty, Wil, stay warm and have a lovely Holiday season!

It has already started melting over here! It was dripping all day long. And during the holidays as well...

Wil, thanks for your comment explaining how the worm farm works. I didn't quite understand it from Naomi's post. That's cool!

Really beautiful! Marvellous to look at but treacherous to travellers.

So I'm not alone. Well and truly snowed in where I am at the moment. It's been years since I've known it like this.

I'm in Thailand - In the mornings it can be as low as 15 or 16 celcius, and all the guys sit around fires, wrapped in blankets, before diving for cool shelter when the sun comes up fully.
Great post.

It does indeed look a lot like winter! Great pictures.

Roger Owen Green said...

Yes, places without regular snow are often paralyzed by it. Washington, DC got thrice the snow you got and it shut down the federal govt. Your pictures are lovely, but they're still winter.

Rose said...

Ah, I am jealous! Your home looks like a magical winter wonderland. It's been a strange weather year--we are used to snow and are prepared for dealing with it, but have had only a light dusting so far. At the same time areas that never receive snow in the winter are being hit with surprise snowstorms. It certainly makes you think harder about climate change...

Your header is lovely--wishing you a Merry Christmas, too, Reader Wil!

So pretty but difficult to get around. I love the picture postcard series.

Lovely photos of winter, and aren't you clever to capture the snow flakes falling gently down the page!

Fantastic photos and I especially love your header photo! Wow! It looks magical.

All of Western Europe seems to be drowning in snow - at least we seem to be getting a traditional White Christmas - if only i had the voice for singing.

It all looks so very beautiful! It's pretty here, too, but the downside is that the roads and pavements haven't been gritted and people are afraid to grit themselves because of litigation fears, so everywhere is dangerously slippery.

Thank you for the very pleasant comment - And a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to you and your dear ones.

I am, of course, green with envy. Grey and drab here. Your top photograph brings back so many memories of me skating on het Veluwe meer. Van Elburg naar Kampen en terug.

Wil, have a most wonderful Christmas.
