that's My World, & ABC Wednesday, L for Loeki Stardust

Again recorder music, which is part of My World. This time it's the well known and famous Dutch group "Loeki Stardust" .
The Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet is a professional Dutch recorder quartet which was founded in 1978 by four students of the Sweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam; Daniël Brüggen, Bertho Driever, Paul Leenhouts and Karel van Steenhoven.During the last 30 years, the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet has enjoyed an international career and are recognized as a serious ensemble of unparalleled virtuosity. They have appeared together at many early music festivals including those in Berlin, Utrecht, London and Sapporo, and regularly tour throughout Europe, the USA and Japan. They also perform separate from festivals in concert halls. In 1998, 2001, 2004, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands requested the quartet to perform for her during official festivities. This will happen again in 2009.
This is my entry for ABC Wednesday too.

For many years my late first husband and I played in an early music group, playing recorders, cornamusen and such like. I love that quartet - recorders make such a beautiful clear sound reader wil don't they?

Beautiful music, Wil. A far cry from the recorder music I remember from school!

Recorder is new to me but I really like it. It sounds like it belongs a few centuries back. I love the images they invoke.

Had er nog nooit van gehoord, maar na het beluisteren vind ik het wel spijtig dat ze niet meer bekendheid hebben. Ga hier op het net toch nog eens achter zoeken.

There is something so mystical about the sound of the recorder. It just transports me back to another era.

Beautiful, Wil. I had my 9 year old granddaughter, Audrey, come in to watch and listen as she plays a recorder at school in the 4th grade.

I am just amazed by the beautiful music that these musicians produce with these instruments. I was babysitting my two-year-old grandson tonight, who loves to "play" the recorder we have. Of course, it's just a plastic one used by one of my kids in primary school, so all he could produce were squeaks and squawks:) A far cry from Bach:)

It seems like a simple instrument, the recorder. I have one somewhere, but don't play it like that! Great morning music.

Thank You for introducing them, would have never had a chance to hear this.

Recorder is not my favourite instrument (too many years teaching young children the basics) so it's good to hear some 'proper' musicians showing what can be achieved.

Lovely and soothing music. I used to play the recorder when I lived in San Francisco – but now it is in its box. I really enjoyed listening to your clip. Listening and closing your eyes, the music can transport you to wonderful places.
