Bench of the Week Middachten Castle Garden

What do you think when you see a bench like that? Does it invite you to sit down and relax? It has no back and the view is not particularly exciting. Maybe somebody can tell me the purpose of this lonely bench.

It may be a bit hard to sit on, but the view looked pleasant enough - and the design is very minimalistic, which is a positive point with me :-)

Re your comment: Yes, it was Gaudi, and his masterpiece. A sight once seen - never forgotten.

PS I have preposted a bench this week too. It will be up at 01:00

Will post my bench later Wil and hhmmm...am also thinking what the bench is for, maybe for someone who's just tired to get a few minutes of rest. :) I do have a new page.

A bench is for sitting and resting first of all. . . IF there is a view, it is a double blessing. Since your bench is in a Garden, people have probably been walking around and might be tired. I like the style of your bench because you can watch the water OR people watch others who are walking about the garden -- if you sit with your back to the water. As you could tell from my bench today, not all my collected bench photos are bearutiful benches and mine faces a building! Nothing to look at there either!!!!

I appreciate you stopping by -- my bench for Friday will be posted in early evening here which is about 7 more hours -- I have been posting Friday benches early (early Thursday evening) and hope you will return as it is a lovely bench I found for Rune's informal meme.

I know a cat who would appreciate a lay-down on that smooth stone. :)

Read a book, eat one's sandwiches,
chat to a friend, rest one's weary feet - that bench looks fine to me reader wil.

It has no back but it still looks like it would relieve tired, achey feet.

A nice place to alight for a few quiet moments.

Hi wil That bench indeed doesn't look very comfortable to sit on but it is a nice spot. Groetjes

I like that spot. I would definitely sit for a while. Quiet, unassuming bench.

I like this one. It seems to be made of stone.

A perfect place to meditate - seems very tranquil. Wonderful shots Wil.

Looks like you can see the lake from the bench. Perhaps there's ducks that swim by. Looks peaceful to me. Yes like Carol says, a nice place to read a short story.

I guess the lack of back lets you chose your view. Also if it is a bit uncomfortable, you might move on more quickly, letting someone else enjoy that particular view.

That bench seems to be in a great location for a rest during a wonderful walk.

I love the top photo especially. I think it is a scene of great peace and beauty, the bench inviting a quiet moment. I did enjoy the other posts on this page as well.
