Graham Laidler (1908–1940) was born on 4 July 1908 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England at 6 Osborne Road, Jesmond. His father died when Laidler was 13 and the family moved south, eventually settling in Jordans, Buckinghamshire.

These are hilarious! I've been grumpy all week long. It's been raining cats and dogs:) The sun is FINALLY shining again!
We've had week long rain here in NC and we've looked at each other and said, 'This is just like England.' Several years ago we did a walking tour in the Cotswolds and it rained every day but one. Didn't matter though -- it was still beautiful.
I think I could subscribe to all of those - especially those with umbrellas ;-)

So funny and so much like my home. My partner actually was the BBC Political Cartoonist. Now he's still a cartoonist and my house if filled with sketches like these. You know what they say about us Brits. If two Brits strangers meet they talk about the weather first. Unusual interesting funny skywatch

Very creatively hilarious! Clever thought via a grumpy old man as seen in the face of the farmer. The sky is surely not happy either!

When you wrote about cartoons, I was thinking of the comics my son reads, Asterix in England, and how they learnt to drink tea.

I have an old Punch cartoon somewhere, which shows a farmer (miserable) leaning on his gate, and a man with him, saying something like 'Those crops are doing really well, aren't they?' and the farmer answers: 'Aye, but it takes a terrible lot out of the ground!'
It's a universal things, isn't it? Farmers are never happy. LOL!
