Another Australian animal!The first photo was taken by my Dutch daughter
My daughter in Australia sent me the second photo, and the third photo I got from Google. I needed it to show what the neck frill looked like. I hope to see it next time I come to Australia.
The Frill-necked Lizard, or Frilled Lizard also known as the Frilled Dragon, (Chlamydosaurus kingii) is so called because of the large ruff of skin which usually lies folded back against its head and neck. The neck frill is supported by long spines of cartilage, and when the lizard is frightened, it gapes its mouth showing a bright pink or yellow lining, and the frill flares out, displaying bright orange and red scales. The frill may also aid in thermoregulation

wow, the last one (photo) really looks like a small dragon (the prehistoric ones) - we have lizzards in my yard, one came in my house -univited! but only the small and simple ones. Your daughter seems pretty active in photography too :)
In 1986, I was clearing an over grown garden with my Mum and Dad. There were many of the Aussie lizards.
We were used to big monitor lizards in Borneo.
It is good that you and your daughter share the same interest in nature photography. I hope your grand children will inherit these genes.
We don't have the lizards running around here, that's for sure! But they are kind of cool creatures, thanks for the information, the pictures are awesome!

The Lizards have always amused me with there displays. What a boon to for yoru daughter to capture ao well.
When you look at these animals it is so very easy to see huge dinosaurs!
