Endeavour River, Queensland, Australia

I was asked where the Endeavour river is. Well it starts in the rainforest of North Queensland of Australia and it ends in Cooktown. It is called Endeavour after Captain James Cook, who landed in June 1770 in what is now called Cooktown.

I have heard of that river before and now know where it is.

We did finally get some rain, Wil. We have been as dry as a bone since back in July and got a lot drizzle rain and it isn't a lot but it was sure needed. Refreshing.

I don't know if I ever showed you any of my early photography that began back in 1953 when I was in Japan. I was working on my blog about Japan and those times.

Here is the link if you have the time and would like to take a look. I hope you will enjoy the pictures.

Thank you Paz!

I am glad you've got some rain now Abe. Here it rains every day. I saw your Japanese photos some time ago and noticed that you were then already a good photographer. I begin to see Japan as a better country than when I was in a Japanese concentration camp, where the guards committed one cruelty after the other. But then they were soldiers and didn't know better than their Japanese customs towards women.

Captain James Cook is a local chap would you believe. He was born just a few miles up the road and did his apprentiship in Whitby. Small world eh!

Thanks for your comment, ear ache seems to be much better thanks.

I have never heard of that river,
but I have been twice on the replica of John Cook's ship, the Endeavor, when it retraced the voyage of the original a couple of years ago. I boarded the ship once in Brunswick, Georgia, and then again in Alexandria, Virginia. Amazing, how small the interior spaces actually were, both for the supplies and the crew.
I am glad there's such a beautiful river named in memory of one of the great voyages of mankind! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. :-)
