We just heard on the news that east Australia is having heavy rainfall and is isolated from the rest of the country. Communication is not possible. We tried to ring my daughter but got no connection. I am worried.

Just got home and saw your comment on my blog about your daughter being in Cooktown.

This ABC bulletin was posted around the time of your comment:

``````......The weather bureau says ex-tropical cyclone Helen will continue to bring widespread rain to parts of far north Queensland today.
Cairns has recorded 130 millimetres of rain in 24 hours and Gordonvale to the south of Cairns has received 125mm.
Cairns weather forecaster Bill O'Connor says the low is situated around 120 kilometres south-west of Cooktown in Cape York.......''''
Just from my own news-watching, last night, there were a souple of rivers that peaked twice with any major incidents. There have been a lot of evacuations, but everything has been managed superbly.
It looks like you have no cause for concern, but if you want to give me your daughter's contact numbers, I'm more than happy to try ringing her on your behalf.
My prayers are for her safety .....
Do let me know
David
Thank you so much , David fortunately my daughter sent me an e-mail and a comment on my efx2 blog. She also said that she has everything in her house just in case of an emergency. Anyway the Endeavour River has not flooded its banks , and that's the main river.It's very kind of you to offer to contact my daughter, thank you very much.Well anyway I am reassured.
Well I read your post and came to worry with you about your daughter. Then I read David's comment and your comment and feel somewhat relieved. Sounds like a lot of rain to me.
I hope you are well, still kicking, as mom used to say.
Say hi to the rest of the family for me and Patty.
Thanks Abe, yea it might be silly, but I still worry when there is something going on in Australia. On the other hand, I also know that Queensland is 54 times The Netherlands so why should I worry too much.
Dear Wil,
Got this note from Merle who lives someplace in Australia
There are floods in Southern Queensland and norther New South Wales. We could do with more rain, but not as much as they are getting up north.
Here is her blogspot address.
